Default SLI Video Card Setups

Anyone have their video cards setup in an SLI setup? I just purchased two NVIDIA 9600 cards for this, and 8GB of ram to shove down my computers throat.

Congrats on your new purchase.8gag dude you seems hardcore. Its fairly easy to install open up back of your computer look for a express 16 or express 2.0 what ever slot video card you have just install it like you do rams. Close box boot up your computer. Put driver disk you got in box. Install drivers and have fun.

@britnko: Its simple but not that simple for SLI setup. As David said, he has purchased two identical graphic cards and wants them to be in SLI setup. The idea behind using multiple GPUs is that theoretically you can double the speed of your graphic processing system.

@David: First, make sure your motherboard and graphic cards are SLI compatible.

After plugging the two cards into each of their PCI-Express x16 slot, you'll need to connect both the cards with a SLI link (Flat ribbon to connect the top of the two cards). You must have got it with your motherboard.

You might need to go into the BIOS and enable it, and have a play with the drivers under display properties.

I wonder why would one require such sophisticated setup for personal use. There are already 1GB graphic cards available out there, isn't it too much already?

As Said by Bryan View Post
I think such setup is required when you require 2 GB graphics memory (1 + 1) as a single 2 GB card would be very expensive.

Its basically meant to reduce cost. I have seen people using 512 x 2 graphic cards instead of a single 1 GB card due to its relatively higher cost.

I know this is a little late, but here is some info:

I'm running twin 9800gt 1GB cards in SLI on a Gigabyte ga-m59SLI-S5 Mobo. I'm running the latest Nvidia Drivers 181.22.
Start up the Nvidia Control panel and you can turn SLI on and off on the fly.

The bummer part of the whole thing is it's hard to tell if SLI is actually working or not. If anyone knows of some type of monitoring system to see your cards working, I'd like to check it out.
thanks..

I would like to suggest u Easiest way to tell if a program is making use of SLI is to monitor temps. There are a few programs out there that can do this for you.
Everest Ultimate (cost $20)

hope u can try it..
thanks..
