Icon3 Stuck and Dead Pixels

Okay this has become a common problem these days. You might have noticed a pixel on your (brand new) LCD monitor's screen continously lighting up, usually green or red. This is a stuck pixel. And I discovered this today on my brand new Dell Studio 15, hence this thread.

On the other hand, when a pixel is black or not lighting up at all, it is called a dead pixel, which is usually a manufacturing defect. I got to know that companies replace your system if there are 5+ dead pixels. (5 yeah thats too much)

Dead pixels are not repaired, you can however test if it really is a dead pixel or just a particle of dust. Apply a soft damp cloth (I would recommend using the small cloth that comes with spectacles) and push it gently across the area. If it cleans off, your good luck. (It happened with me once, really!)

Apply the same above method in case it is a stuck pixel. Be careful and gentle in the process, otherwise you would create some more stucked ones lol. Stucked pixels tend to repair itself by time and use. You can also try UDPixel to discover and repair stuck pixels by calling them to do rapid changes.

But seriously, you may hardly notice a stuck pixel on your screen. But once you do, you cannot stop staring at it.

Very well put up wizzy.

Yes, I agree this is a common and irritating problem these days in LCD's. It even happens in iPhone's screen. I would also recommend using JScreenfix for dealing with stuck pixels if you're not willing to install any app.

My Compaq had this problem when purchased, it still has after months. Will try this thing out. I would have never known there is such a simple solution for this thing. Thanks
