What is the worst problem you ever had with your computer and how did you manage to fix it.

For me I think I posted this somewhere anyway I got sent a file by accident that had a trojan or something, whatever it was that I was sent basically the person was able to see what I was typing to other people, it was pretty scary, but what I had to do to fix the problem in the end was format my computer, that is back when I had a desktop, I now have a laptop.

What happened to you? How did you fix it or take care of the problem?

As Said by Anchor
I did this with my friend once, he got scared too.

The worst problem I had was 7 years back (when I was a kind of newbie), I never used to care about installing antivirus in my PC and neither I was used to backups. SO, it once got infected and every single .EXE got corrupted. I learnt something that day, after loosing everything

This is a hard one for me to answer...I have had servers die(where it took 3 days to get it fixed), Video conference systems die, All kinds of desktops and laptops die, users with mass virus problems, e-mail bombs (that killed our network for 3 days), and many others.

I think the worst kind of problems though are the ones where you are not the person actually fixing it. When I am dependant on someone else saying that they are working on it, I just am sure I could fix it faster LOL. Another bad time is when you have to wait for parts to fly in from some other place. These are the worst for me.

I had a problem long back that is Windows Genuine, it slowed my pc, gave a lot of troubles. But after that i came to know how to tackle the genuine validation. That did not validate the windows but dint show any notifications. The notification can be removed by deleting WGATray.ece file in System32, but should be careful while we do that.

My problem was with regard to hacking my social profile. My social book marking password was hacked by some one. Then I requested assistant form the relevant help center. Finally I got my problem resolved. It was a bad experience to me.

I have only had one laptop, a powerbook titanium g4 633. its almost 3 years old now and sees heavy use daily. right before the warranty ran out the paint started falling off on the palmrests. Apple took care of that right away. about 4 months ago the left display hinge broke when i was opening it. bought a new one on ebay and fixed it. a couple weeks ago i dropped it on the floor and the right hinge broke. i bough another one and fixed that side too...
help out..
thanks...
