Default Which is your favorite Antivirus software ?

In earlier days of Win 98, I used to have AVG free edition and loved it. :love2:

One day I noticed every single .EXE gone corrupt, even the antivirus's .EXE was infected. It was a hard time as I lost almost everything on my HD and I never had the habit of backing up data. :o_o:

Since then, I had switched between many antivirus products including Norton, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, Nod32 and atlast landed on McAfee. I still use McAfee Enterprise and love it.

As Said by sathish5566 View Post
You should not install two antivirus products on 1 system. Its not recommended.

I'll prefer removing Norton. McAfee is the best for me.

I use AVG, but AVG hog my memory. Then I switched to PCTools. It seems lighter than AVG and I am happy with it.

Well... there always remain a difference between free and paid softs. And security of our PC cannot be neglected or left upon free antiviruses. What say Dreams

Do you think there are any free antivirus products that perform as good as a commercial one?

Offcourse You are right when it comes to the security related issue Nobuddy will like to compromise and its always best practice to use the paid version of any software so that we can get the best of value + Support from the vendor.

The present antivirus which I am using is Eset Nod 32 with daily automatic updates and its proving out to be excellent one not slowing up my system. So far so good.

i trust AVG 8.0. its the best free antivirus out now. they ave daily updates which makes it even cooler. also, the virus scan has inbuilt anati-spyware. so no need to download another app for anti-spyware.

I have experience with most of the Anti-Virus software listed here. I agree that Norton is garbage as it is way to heavy on the system. I like Kasperky a lot. My company made the switch to Macafee which is very good but in an enterprise it has some more administrative overhead...
For just your home PC I think either Avast (if you need free) or Macafee if you are willing to pay for it.

My favourite antivirus is Norton Internet Security , as it works automatically and hence there is no need to scan for viruses .

On Linux systems, there is not much need for anti-virus but more and more viruses are showing up to infect Linux now that it is becoming more popular. ClamAV is the Linux anti-virus software and I run it on my web server.
