I have worked on a company a few years ago where they chose ASP because of the ASP.net which was developed together with Visual Basic and I'm wondering if the current PHP 5 could replace ASP.net. What do you people think? Is PHP 5 powerful enough? |

I think PHP has already replaced ASP.NET in the long run. The developers are switching to it as it is proving more efficient in web development. PHP/MySQL has completely changed the view of web programming and is largely dominating ASP/ASP.NET and other server side scripting langs. Almost 98% of forums are built using PHP/MySQL. Another reason is that Linux has always proved to be more efficient and powerful as a server and PHP is its blood.

hi, I think php is going to more powerful language than asp because of the following reasons, - Php is open source, easy to download and use. - Lots of good source code out there to use and/or learn from, as well as many useful libraries for working with PDFs, graphics, etc. - Php is platform independent.run in all os. - Very Easy to understand Syntax and structures of php. - PHP can be used with a large number of relational database management systems, runs on all of the most popular web servers.

PHP and ASP are server side scripting language. But PHP is open source and ASP is Microsoft's product. PHP is very easy to learn and we can make our website quickly. ASP is a full package for making websites and other windows application.
