Mine is above 1300 wide with 760 height I guess. I think its the most common now.

1024x768 used to the most common but its becoming outdated now.

Thats correct. 1024 is outdated now, but its still lot in use. High resolution Widescreen is what people prefer these days. I had been using 1024x768 since quite some time. But now I'm on above 1300 above as well.

Above 1300 is the most common in today's laptops. I think 1600 and above resolutions would look good only on a large monitor which is never possible on a laptop.
