Icon6 Burnout Paradise Gameplay

This is a gameplay video I made out of Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box. Its one of the best racing games I have ever played with some stunning visual effects. Rated 9.0 and Editors Choice at Gamespot.

wow you made it? I mean, how?

This doesn't look like video recording from a camera phone or something. How is the video/audio so clear?

This is done through a game recording software called Fraps. It captures in high quality and produces an un-encoded raw AVI output.

oh okay so if I am getting it right, does this mean that it outputs a fairly huge sized file ?

Yes. As the recording is done in real-time and there is no time to encode simultaneously, it outputs a really big file. For a 4 minute video, the size is almost 2.5 - 3 GB.

Fraps doesn't have any inbuilt feature to compress it in real time or even later.

Also, you need a real good high speed processor to record a game using Fraps. Like my PC that has a Dual Core processor at 2.66Ghz/533FSB/2MB Cache slows down the game completely as its unable to perform both the tasks (playing game and recording) at the same time. Whereas my Dell Studio 15 with Core 2 Duo at 2.40Ghz/1066FSB/3MB Cache does this easily. I think its basically the FSB what counts.

Thanks for the detailed info wizzy.

Don't mind me asking so many questions but may I know how did you compress it without any loss in quality, or did you upload the complete 2GB raw file at youtube ?

I certainly not. That is what this place is for.

Windows Movie Maker (inbuilt in Windows OS) does this job very easily. For the first time I used it for something LOL.

The 2GB file compressed to around 60MB with an unnoticable loss in quality. It took just 2 minutes for the compression to take place. Though it took me a couple of hours to upload on youtube due to my really slow uploading speed and peak time of youtube.

Nice to know it could be done without installing any third party app. I would have never figured that out by myself.

Just one more thing, how did you add that screen at the beginning where it shows your computer specs. It has added a really professional feel to the video.

Yet another basic feature of Windows Movie Maker.
