Icon6 XBOX 360 Wireless Controller for PC

Ordered at eBay, an XBOX 360 Wireless Controller alongwith PC Receiver and Play and Charge Kit totalling 70USD.

Received the complete set in 3 days. The looks of the controller are attractive for sure. Solid built, nice finish and very comfortable to handle. The Play and Charge kit may act weird at times. The LED doesn't turn up green sometimes indicating that the battery is fully charged, I need to turn OFF then ON my controller to make the LED change. Strange problem, but not a very big issue.

The life of the battery is good enough, can last even longer if you turn off the vibration feedback within the games. Checking battery status is damn easy too via software on press of a single button.

The PC Receiver can handle upto 4 controllers at once, which is awesome. I have not experienced any connection breakdowns as of yet. Its working as good as any wired controller would work. I got most of my devices wireless, so that was one reason I got the wireless controller. Like to keep away from wires as much possible, but thats just me.

The only ugly bug in the drivers is the lack of TURNING OFF the controller. Yes, thats true, you cannot turn off your XBOX 360 Wireless Controller on PC, unless you pop out the batteries from behind. Or otherwise you can turn off the controller from within a game that has Games for Windows Live stuff like Street Fighter 4, Gears of War etc. One other dirty solution is to keep it inactive for 20 minutes and it turns off automatically.

I am also waiting for the Chatpad drivers to release for PC so that we can get a keyboard replacement with a nice handy one, it would be a great accessory for the controller.

But otherwise, the controller is top class.

I'd also like to add about how cool your controller can get with the Pinnacle Game Profiler software. You'd be able to play almost ANY game (that does not natively support controllers) with your controller. Not only this, you can even control your mouse and keyboard. I haven't touched the touch pad or external mouse on my laptop since I installed this software.

The software is fully functional for 30 days, or you can purchase a one-time license for mere 20USD. A must have for those who have a wireless controller atleast, you'd feel even more free than before.

Do you suggest getting a wired one? Don't you think it would reduce the cost of battery and charger as well as would completely eliminate the need of charging anything, just plug and play.

What you're saying is absolutely correct. But as I said earlier, thats just my personal preferance of staying away from wires as much as possible. I have almost all of my external peripheral devices in their wireless form, so I could not leave this out.

Also, with the PC receiver you get with the wireless controller, it is able to connect upto 4 controllers at once, which is incredible IMO. Its just like a mobile phone where you charge and use.

I got the same controller last year. Been using it till date, I think its an awesome quality product by Microsoft.

Just a quick question.
Are the Xbox360 controllers compatible with the PC version of Resident Evil 4?
I think they are, since they are even compatible with GH II's X-Plorer, but I want to be sure.
please let me know..
thanks..

Hi! I faced with that problem too, so I made a small app, that solves this problem.

It watching for the GUIDE button in the background, and if you press for 2 seconds, it will ask for turn off the controller. You can download from here: http://djpety.nt-hosting.hu/XboxExt/
