Default vBSEO???

Has vBSEO updated to the latest version yet for stable release?

It seems to be a really long delay, and any time anyone asks about it, they just get some post full of marketing bullshit and excuses with no real time frame or updates

hehe.. they have even re-versioned vbseo 3.2.5 to 3.3.0 as a marketing technique.

I have screamed a lot of times at their site (if you read them) since a month now. This atleast forced them to make 3.3.0 pre-release version available to every customer on request.

But I really hate the way they are going! No development news or announcements, simply nothing since 7 months. But they are good at talking lol.

Glad to see they can keep their skin updated with pretty colors, but not finalize a release version.

I wonder when the great revolt will start?

The revolt did start, but they close the thread the moment people started questioning their silence.

They had been real irritating lately. Just because they do not have a single competitor in the market, it seems they really do not care anymore.

Now I do not recommend vBSEO to anyone, I always suggest them to wait for vb4. Doesn't matter what vbseo dev says, but Friendly URL's is indeed one most important feature and reason that majority of the people buy the software for, which would now be default in vbulletin.

I'm sorta wondering why they added canonical URL's if their product already took care of duplicate content and only had one URL to access it from

They have given a good description of it in vbseocp.

A canonical URL is the "Preferred" URL for any page. Some pages have more than one accessible URL, creating a duplicate content problem. Google and other search engines now look for a META parameter rel="canonical", and use this as a hint to determine which URL is the correct one to index, i.e. the preferred version.

vBSEO's built in Link Consensus ensures that all pages on your forum are canonical to begin with, allowing for only one URL per resource. vBSEO's native canonical URLs provide advantages including greater crawling efficiency, optimized external linking, maximized link value. This is not provided with the rel="canonical" parameter alone. vBSEO's Application level link consensus is required for these advantages.

However, Google's canonical hints are helpful as a backup for URLs such as custom sorted pages. This level of redundancy will ensure that if search engines ever discover the sorting URLs, they will be instructed of the correct page URL for link consensus the first time they crawl the page. Examples include custom sorted versions of forumdisplay, social group discussions, member and blog lists, etc.

They even market in their paid product that people already have?

So then, its just added bloat if they already achieved link consensus, but are including it still? There wouldn't be any reason for it other than to A, market that there are more optins  or B, use it for some other marketing reason

They had been talking a lot about the new 3.3 Virtual HTML display feature, which turns notices display via Javascript thus improve content-to-code ratio and probably make it unnoticable to spiders. But unfortunately, it completely blocks notices to display if one has javascript turned off. I find it completely useless, as I am not interested in blocking my notices from being crawled.

So basically, all I am getting after an 8 month wait, is just vBulletin 3.8 compatibility LOL. I wonder if there would had been no vb 3.8, there would not had been a vbseo 3.3 or simply anything :w00t:

Another interesting point I am seeing is that VBSEO has started sending out "You Are Running a Pirated Version of VBSEO" type notices and claim they have some kind of detection scanner they are using to catch pirates. Maybe that is where all their focus has been. I am still "hard pressed" to find any concrete evidence that VBSEO is anything more than a placebo that makes site owners think they are getting some value for their $$$.

As Said by vbplusme
exactly! I feel its natural that a site gains traffic and rankings in a few months. There are so many HUGE vb sites that do not have vbseo and have done amazingly well. We should not forget that CONTENT always remain the king, rest is all hype.

I really doubt with/without vbseo makes difference anymore as Google is intelligent enough to index the content. vbseo is just overrated is what I feel.
