Thats the hardest part really. *sigh* I am not sure what you mean by "a tool to promote our site automatically". I think you mean using softwares to submit your site to directories, right? If that is what you mean then you are just building incoming links, which is definitely not promoting your site. You get near to 0% traffic out of that. By site promotion, we mean getting real traffic/visitors to our website and getting the name/brand known to the world. (not just building links) I can list out a few ways for you:- 1. For a forum, I have seen many admins spending around 500$/month for rewarding highest posters, contest winners etc. This really attracts a LOT of people and generating content won't be a problem then. I know a forum doing so, that is a really big-board now in not even 4-5 months of time. Ofcourse not everybody can do so. ![]() 2. Having a good looking unique design surely attracts visitors and make them remember the website. For example, if I like the design of any website, I always bookmark it in my "Beautiful Sites" category. 3. Content is the King. Getting loads and loads of *quality* content on your website makes it rank really good on Search Engines. The more pages you have indexed in S.E.'s, the more traffic you are likely to get. This is by far the best way to get your site known to the world, but is time taking and requires a lot of hard work. ![]() 4. Lot of hype about the term "SEO". Good content + Good SEO is definitely worth it. And that is what everybody is looking after these days. 5. Fast loading websites plus valid markup is quite important too. I usually close the browser when a site is taking ages to load OR if it cannot support my browser. Thus having an optimized code and properly written validated (X)HTML makes user comfortable in most environments. 6. Another nice way would be to actively post on forums that are related to the niche of your site, having a link to your site in sig. People have reported that it does work in the process of promoting your site. Ofcourse, no spam. 7. Word of mouth also helps a lot. Let your friends, family know about your site. They'll surely forward it to the next person and so on. You may also use other advertising methods like printing business cards, T-shirts etc with your site name and logo. Out of all, 3rd point is the most important. Nothing can help if you do not have content. I have seen worst looking sites being overloaded with traffic, just because they are overloaded with some real good content. oh boy, you made me write so much jian. See this is how we build content hehe. Requires time, effort and dedication.
