yeah its true..

Under google webmaster tools, you have a link to a form where you can report such websites, they make an investigation then.

But I wonder how many people know about this. I see sites like DP selling loads of links, just to gain PR.

Yes I also have seen many DP members selling links in their websites. I guess Google cant know about link selling if no one reports to them.

That's true that the websites which are selling links can be penalize by the Google and they can drop the website or website can be loose the search engine ranking from the top places to the search engine results. There are some otehr penalties which can also be applied. After the Google Panda update Google can detect the any kind of spam and that's why many website lost their ranking and traffic from the Google.
