The term "offshore" indicates a kind of tax avoidance and sketchy business policy. At times, an integral part of the business world is Offshore Web hosting. A perfect example of where it is preferred is North America. As only outside of American soil the issues of privacy and security standards can be delivered, it is thus given preference.

An offshore host is where there are servers that run/host a website except its located in another country. Many people use this because it is much harder to shut down legally and harder to contact.
