Is it better to get domain from different registrar than your hosting provider? I heard by some people that one should avoid getting both products from one company... Your comments, suggestions and/or observations are required, please.

I have never heard of anything as such. I have my domains and hosting with one company.
I hope someone can throw light on this.

I also read somewhere that dont go for domain and hosting from the same company. There are some companies which provide free domains for lifetime or may be 2 or 3 years with their hosting also. Basically they want their customers to stuck to them for long time thats why they give free domains.

I always keep my domains at a very reliable registrar (GoDaddy) as the domain name is way more important than the hosting. If you lose your hosting account for a reason or another, you can always change the host and setup a backup copy of your site at a new host. On the other hand, if you lose your domain registration, then you lose everything.
